PINEDA DE MAR - HOME OF THE SCREAMIN' 2008
Pineda de Mar is located in the middle of the "Costa del Maresme", in between the coastal mountain range and the sea. Distant some 55 km from Barcelona and some 45 km from Girona, Pineda de Mar stands in the centre of a main communications network formed by the N-II road, C-32 Motorway and the railway, the latter with trains departing every 20 minutes. Pineda is a privileged place featuring a long and wide sandy beach of outstanding

Pineda de Mar is a town completely embracing the sea. We enjoy a wide and long sandy beach of outstanding quality, approximately 3.000 metres long and with an average width of around 40 metres.
The care the City Council takes on the beach maintenance all year round is greatly intensified during the summer season.
A total of 65 showers are located along the beach. Several bicycle parkings can also be found, basically with the aim to promote cycling in the town and most especially in the beach area.
The quality of the sand and the water, as well as the services we provide, have made it possible for the beach of Pineda de Mar to have been awarded in recent years the Blue Flag quality certificate.
There are three displays in several beach locations disclosing all information related to the Blue Flag, as well as the state of the beach.
Furthermore, during the summer season, in two sites along the beach, "l'Agència Catalana de l'Aigua" (Catalan Water Agency) displays information about the quality of sand and water that is weekly updated. Coinciding with the location of showers, there are also several ramps providing handicapped people access to the beach.
A wide range of accommodations is available -hotels, apartments and campings - together with bars, terraces and restaurants.

HOW TO MOVE THROUGHT THE TOWN
You can get everywhere by walking, but if you don't like to walk or you just can't walk these are our advices: The "Xino-Xano" is a pleasant type of transport which has become a tourist attraction in itself. It's nothing more than a tractor disguised as a railway locomotive pulling two or more wagons. It runs an itinerary along the town's touristic areas every 15 minutes during the day. It costs 1,20 Euro and stops near almost every hotel doors and, in some cases, at very same doors. It has a stop near the Beach Party Bar aswell.
